FSP Achieves ISO/TS 29001:2007 and NIOC HSE-MS Certificates, March 15, 2008
In line with its commitment to service quality, occupational health and protection of environment, Persian Offshore started to apply the ISO/TS 29001:2007 and NIOC HSE-MS standards to its workplace, and successfully achieved the related certificates from the DNV Foundation on March 15, 2008.
The ISO/TS 29001:2007 standard was developed by the ISO/TC 67 (technical committee) for the standardization of materials, equipments and offshore structures for petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries and published as an ISO/TS (technical specification) to define the supplemental requirements of ISO 9001 for the said industries. These industries have a special need to make the processes that have an impact on the functional aspects of the products more enhanced and replicable, and to coordinate these processes with the environmental conditions of the organization. Therefore, the ISO/TS 29001:2007 standard is considered an added emphasis on the important subjects that are usually raised within these organizations.
During the recent decades and in tune with the implementation of integrated management systems within the areas of occupational health, security and environment, some international companies -especially those active in the petroleum industries- started to develop guideline standards. Mostly introduced as HSE-MS, these standards have distinctive features from the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards, offering a specified framework for the integrated management systems. In 2002, the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum attempted to develop a HSE-MS implementation guidebook and subsequently required all affiliated organizations to enforce the guidelines at their workplace. The guidebook is applicable to all industries and organizations affiliated to the ministry, including the National Iranian Oil Company, National Petrochemical Company, National Iranian Gas Company, and the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company.
